The Detroit Downtown Hoedown was established in 1983 and is widely recognized as the largest Country Music show of its kind in the world The 2005 festival was hosted by 99.5 WYCD Detroit's Best Country and is now regarded by the Country Music Industry as a premier showcase opportunity not only for established artists, but also for new artists as well. The event attracts Country Music fans of all ages and races. Downtown Detroit hotels generally report full occupancy during the Hoedown, it's truly a "must see" event for Country and Contemporary Music fans from Michigan and beyond. Sponsors who are targeting the enthusiastic and brand loyal Country Music consumer report great traffic and results from their participation in the Hoedown. Proceeds from concession sales at the Hoedown benefit various local nonprofit organizations as well as the Detroit Recreation Department and many of its programs for children.
